Advanced Visualization Integration

Overview

The platform supports one-click launch of Canon Vitrea and TeraRecon Advanced Visualization (AV) tools directly from the reporting screen. When a radiologist opens a study and clicks Launch In, the selected AV tool opens in a separate window — pre-loaded with the correct patient and study — with no manual searching or re-entry of context required.

What It Does

The Launch In menu appears in the reporting screen when a study is open and an AV tool is enabled for your facility.

  • The AV tool opens pre-loaded with the correct patient and study context — no need to search or manually load the exam.

  • Context stays in sync: changing studies in the platform updates the AV tool automatically.

  • Closing a study in the platform clears the AV tool, preventing stale patient data from remaining on screen.

  • Derived images created in the AV tool (such as reconstructions or MPR views) are sent back and stored against the exam record.

Radiologist Workflow

  1. Open a study → 'Launch In' menu appears in the reporting screen.

  2. Select Canon Vitrea or TeraRecon → tool opens in a separate window with study pre-loaded.

  3. First launch: enter Windows credentials. Subsequent launches: no re-login required.

  4. Work in the AV tool. Images retrieve automatically. Derived images are stored back to the platform.

  5. Change or close the study in the platform → AV tool updates or clears automatically.

Workstation Requirements

The following must be installed and running on your Windows workstation:

  • The relevant AV application (Canon Vitrea or TeraRecon)

  • Native Application (Vault)

  • Stratus Imaging Display Manager Chrome extension

Note: Canon Vitrea (Vitrea® Advanced Visualization) and TeraRecon (Intuition™) are separately purchased third-party applications. Available features depend on the license purchased. Contact your administrator if the Launch In menu is not visible or the tool fails to launch.

Troubleshooting

AV tool doesn't open after clicking Launch InCheck that Vault is running and the AV application is installed on your workstation. The platform will continue to function normally. Contact your system administrator if the issue persists.

Study not found in the AV toolThis is typically a connectivity or configuration issue on the backend. Close the study in the AV tool manually and contact your administrator.

For Integration Specialists

Gateway configuration is required before radiologists can use this feature. This includes creating DICOM targets, configuring routing rules, and setting up Query/Retrieve (QR) folders for each AV tool.
